Acupuncture is one of the oldest medicines in the world and is used by one-third of the world’s population as a primary healthcare system. Acupuncturists insert sterile, hair-thin, single-use needles into the body with a specific intention to elicit an appropriate movement of energy. The desired result is to offer the patient a concrete sense of spiritual, emotional, and physical balance. Patients who pursue ongoing treatment for maintenance and promotion of good health report: staying well longer and recovering from illness more quickly; improved stamina and vitality; improved capacity to positively influence their own health; reductions in long-term health-care costs and less frequent visits to physicians; and deepened and more harmonious relationships with others.

Acupuncture stems from traditional wisdom that developed in and around China over a period of approximately 5,000 years. It includes the concept of qi, often translated as “energy,” and is based on a persistent exploration of the parallels between the rhythmic movements of nature and how similar states (both in and out of balance) manifest in all aspects of the human condition.

Herbalists focus on supporting and maintaining health rather than fighting disease. Many herbalists believe the strength of botanicals is their capacity to support the body as it finds its healing path. In other words, the focus of practice is not placed on herbs “fixing” you, but rather on nurturing your intrinsic capacity for healing. Appointments will focus on providing personalized herbal formulas, as well as lifestyle and dietary recommendations. A large part of your work together will focus on learning to listen and respond to your body’s signals. This emphasis on self-care encourages you to develop a deep connection with your body.

Chinese Herbal Medicine is the most widely practiced herbal tradition in the world. It has a rich and sophisticated system of diagnosis to address a variety of conditions. According to the oldest text, herbal medicine can be used for three reasons: to alleviate specific symptoms (the lowest level of treatment), to rectify imbalances in the body (the middle level), and to promote longevity (the highest level). This ancient perspective is followed as herbal formulations are created to address the complexities of the whole person.

Following the consultation, the practitioner will prescribe an herbal formula that will be order by the practitioner.

So that the practitioner may have the clearest picture of your health, please refrain from applying strong fragrances, drinking caffeine, or eating foods that may discolor your tongue for at least two hours before your appointment

After the initial consultation, a follow up appointment will be planned with the provider to gain a scope of how the formulas are working and what needs to be changed in the plan.
